Has anyone of you ever dreamt of living a lavish life with royal treatment even if it lasts just for a day! The chain of luxury hotels of IHCL better known as Taj Hotels provides you the grandeur of a luxurious life that you have ever imagined. But is it really worth to spend thousands for a night stay or is it overpriced? Is the stay really as magnificent as being advertised or is it overhyped? So, letβs unpack the mystery.
I am genuinely one of those characters who want to try every novel thing and decide for myself its goodness rating on the Likert scale. After a tiring month at the workplace, I wanted a change. This time instead of going on a trip to a faraway place I decided to gift myself a luxurious treatment for a day. I chalked out my options for a Five-star stay in Delhi.
Taj Palace situated at Sardar Patel Marg, Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi.
Taj Mahal situated at Number one Mansingh Road, New Delhi
Ambassador at Sujan Singh Park, New Delhi
Vivanta situated near Sector 21 metro station Dwarka, New Delhi.
The above mentioned hotels offer a variety of rooms to choose from- Super, Deluxe, Premium, etc. depending on what luxurious amenities you require. You can book a Premium room in Vivanta in INR 6000 whereas a Superior room in Taj Palace for the same amount. After adding Breakfast, Dinner, and taxes the price will shoot up. Check out the Taj official website for availability and rates as they differ drastically.
I chose the Deluxe room of Vivanta, Dwarka for my stay. I booked through MakeMyTrip and paid approximately INR 6000 for a night. I availed an ongoing offer of Experience More in which the breakfast and dinner at restaurant Creo were included. I will provide details of the Buffet meal in my next post.
How to reach
As you will be spending a high amount just for less than 24 hours stay ( Check-in: 2 pm, Check-out: 12 pm), you can save a little on commute. Since Taj Vivanta is closest to Sector 21 Metro station, Dwarka, take the metro till there or Dwarka Sector 8. Book a cab to the hotel from there. It will save money and at the same time, you wonβt be judged for your social status while entering the Five-star property π Well, this is for people like me who are Delhiites. If you are a traveler then you will be happy to know that Vivanta is just 15 mins drive away from the IGI Delhi Airport.
The Lavish stay
The royal treatment starts from the entry gate itself. Everyone right from the security to the reception greets you with a gentle smile. Once you are at the reception doing the check-in formalities, you will be served with a welcome drink whose bitter taste I did not like at all. You will be given a choice between Smoking and Non-smoking room. I opted for the latter. A refundable fee of INR 3000 will be taken in case you consume anything from the mini bar in the room. The reception area has an appealing aesthetic beauty. The roof chandelier, the oval-shaped sofas, and every nook and corner are so well lit and decorated with minimal things that you will be certainly tempted to click a pic or two.

I asked for a non-city view room and got that. By the way, you cannot use the lift without your room card as you need to swipe the card before you access any floor choice. Pretty smart 5-star features π. It is a very niche walk through the hotel corridors. There will be pin-drop silence in the corridor as these luxurious rooms are soundproof. The first thing that entices you about these five stars is the immaculateness. As I entered my room everything is perfectly neat and well-placed. The first thing I always check is the washroom. It was such a delight to see a bathtub in there. The washroom was immensely clean with all the toiletries and towels enough for two people and a cute pair of slippers too. The room was spacious and had a centralized air conditioning system. It had a mini-refrigerator loaded with foodstuffs which were obviously overpriced. A kettle was also there to help the teetotalers to boil water with a variety of tea-bags and coffee sachets too. Small boxes of dry fruits to lure you but come with a hefty price tag.

The Whole floor was carpeted to minimize the noise and gave a luxurious feel. A chaise lounge style sofa in the corner of the room looked elegant. They provide a kind of mini-office at one corner with a nice comfy revolving chair and a study lamp. The room had three intercoms including the one in the washroom. I was delighted to find an iron with the ironing board in the wooden almirah. It is really helpful for business travelers. And yeah for all the girls out there, a hairdryer in washroom closet is really going to give you a good hair day π© . The bed was covered with a white bedsheet, quilt, and soft cushions. It was nice and relaxing to just lie on it and watch TV π€π» . The hotel has a 24Γ7 service desk to help you which is just a call away. The staff is cordial and pleasant to talk to. Like all the big hotels, this one also has a pool that I could not enjoy due to some maintenance work that was on. But believe me, spending time in your private bathtub ππ½ with music on is not so bad either, in fact, that was one of my favorites. To relax and rejuvenate you, there is a Jiva Spa facility in the hotel that offers various massages and therapies at a cost of around INR 5000. Else if you want to sweat the fatigue out, you can try the fitness center any time of the day.
Final Verdict
All things said if you are looking forward to a relaxing stay with the perfect blend of modern and exotic facilities, comfort and great hospitality coming with a price tag then this should be your next destination. I will rate the overall stay in Vivanta as a wonderful and relaxing experience in Toto. But wait! This verdict is not over yet. Check out for the most important part of the stay- Food, in the next coming post.
